The biggest difference between the Magic Keyboard and the Slim X1, and perhaps the one that could be a difference-maker for some users, is the way the keys feel when pressed. Using the Slim X1 made me appreciate the relatively low maintenance white keycaps found on Apple’s Magic Keyboard. The Slim X1 is also a hair wider than the Magic Keyboard, with slightly larger bezels.Īlthough I like the look of the space gray anodized aluminum paired with the black keycaps, I quickly remembered how much black keys show fingerprints, grease, and dust. For example, the function keys at the top of the unit are smaller to accommodate slightly larger primary keys than you’ll find on the Magic Keyboard. That being said, the Satechi Slim X1 is not a 1:1 Magic Keyboard clone. However, because the Slim X1 feels similar to Apple’s Magic Keyboard, it didn’t take long before typing on it felt natural. Regarding keyboards, Apple is servicing the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard for up to three years. However, Apple has other warranty programs (e.g., Quality Program, Repair Program, etc), even if your device is out of warranty. You should definitely contact Apple if your device is still under warranty. If you re soo disappointed, you can also send feedback to Apple. If nothing above helps you, you may want to contact Apple or make a Genius Bar appointment. Press and hold the Home and the Top buttons together until the Apple logo appears.

You can try blowing air directly into your connectors to remove debris. Try gently cleaning the Smart Connector pins and contacts.

These things can prevent your iPad Pro from making a connection to your keyboard. Make sure that nothing is covering (dirt, debris, lint, plastic, paper, etc) connection pins.
